Obituary for Bobby Ray McGary Bobby Ray McGary, at 70 years of age, surrendered to the will of God through his passing on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, in Bethany, Oklahoma after putting up a good fight. Bobby was born on September 6, 1954, in Douglasville, Texas, to the late Zeke and Annie D. McGary. He was the third born of nine children. Bobby, as a child, resided and grew up in Quanah, Texas, and attended the Quanah Public Schools. Later as a young adult, Bobby moved to Hollis, Oklahoma where he met and married his first wife, Linda (Polly) Johnson Atkins who is also the mother of his four daughters. Later in his marriage, Bobby received Christ in his life and became a member of the Calvary Community Church in Hollis, Oklahoma under the Pastoral leadership of Pastor Tyrone Campbell. He served as an active member and ordained deacon for several years. Bobby supported his family with several jobs. He farmed a plenty of years for Glenn Lewis and was a custodian at the Colonial Manor 1 Nursing Home for several years before securing his primary employment with the Hollis Cotton Oil Mill. Bobby worked for many years before he was injured and retired. After his marriage was resolved, he moved to Dallas and met and married Monica Green. After the resolution of his marriage to Monica, Bobby relocated to Oklahoma City with his devoted friend, Diane Bell and was surrounded by the love of his daughters and his younger brother Billy until his passing. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Elizabeth Ann McGary, and one brother, James Earl McGary. Bobby was full of life and loved to be well dressed, vibrant, and stylish. To know him was to love him. He would lend a helping hand to anyone in need and was loved throughout his community in Quanah, Texas and Hollis, Oklahoma. He loved to joke around and was the life of the party. He would dance and attempt to sing to keep everyone laughing. He enjoyed talking about the Lord and reciting scriptures. His favorite pastime was fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. Frying fish was his specialty. He loved eating catfish and bass. Bobby was a great husband, father, grandfather, and brother during his lifetime. He was a loving uncle, cousin, and friend. He is survived by his four daughters, Debrena Johnson, Hollis Ok, Keturah Johnson, Termonica Johnson Healey (Josh), and Veronica Johnson, all of Oklahoma City, OK. One son, Bobby Hardeman of Sacramento, California. Three brothers, Billy (Marquita) McGary of Oklahoma City, OK, David McGary of Arlington, TX, and Joseph (Debora) McGary of Arlington, TX. Three sisters, Elder Wonda M Haltom of Chesterfield, Va., Lenora (Rev. Marvin) Morris of Houston, TX, and Reverend Sandra (Kenney) of Vernon, TX. He had eleven grandchildren: Ivory, Asia, Alaia, Tyrell, Isaiah, Christian, Cody, Camden, Chosen, Ian, and Atlas, one loving Aunt: Josie Callaway, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom he loved dearly. To everyone, thank you. There is such great comfort in the assurance that we are not alone in this hour of significant loss. That assurance is confirmed by the many warm and sincere expressions of comfort and sympathy each of you has bestowed up on us. We extend our gratitude for your kindness and concern during this season. The personal visits, telephone calls, heartwarming meals, beautiful cards, floral arrangements, and fervent prayers were heartfelt and deeply appreciated.
