Troy Rodney Certain

Troy R Certain was born November 17, 1965 in Melrose Park, Illinois, to the union of Corrie and George Certain being the third child. He attended elementary school at Emerson, in Maywood, Illinois. He continued his education at Eisenhower Junior High and Senior High School graduating here in Lawton. He proceeded to advance his education by attending OSU-Technological College graduating with an associate degree in Business and Administration. He continued to advance his education in Broadcasting Technology with an associate degree in Dallas Texas. He was in union with the mothers of his three children, son – Troy (Certain Jr.) Hill and daughters, Shayla Certain and Taylor Certain. His last union with Vickie (Morgan) Certain. They blended the family in love. Troy was very outgoing in caring for his children. He loved spending time with them. Taking them to school, picking them up and many after school activities. They took many pictures together, shopping, going to the movies and went on trips. He spent many hours in trying to mentor them about the importance of family, education and life. He worked in Dallas for an Electrical Company, Cable Company and at the time of his passing he worked at PCSI General Maintenance at Ft Sill. The opportunity for entrepreneurship came about to be a co-owner of the family-owned business, John & Cook’s BBQ. To proliferate the business, he started up the John and Cook’s BBQ and More Trailer, where he would take the business to the customer. Troy loved music and he brought it to life through his side hustle business as AKA DJ T-Roy. He was a contracted DJ at Apache Casino and played at Mona’s Old School Club on Friday and Saturdays. He also DJ’d at Comanche Casino for special occasions, parties for all types of occasions (school graduations, weddings, picnics, family reunions, etc.). He was a very popular local DJ. Troy accepted God in his life a little late, but not too late. He was a member of St. John’s Baptist Church and then changed his membership to Bethlehem Baptist Church where his was a faithful member till his demise. He lives to mourn and honor his memory, his wife of the home Vickie and their children, his sisters Carrie Gaines of Lawton, Ok and Wanda Certain of Bellwood, IL, his brothers – Lonzo Gaines of Lawton, OK, George Certain Jr. of Maywood, IL, Edward Certain of New Orleans, LA, Torrey Certain of Lawton, OK, 14 grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, other family members and valued friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Ciara LaTroyce Certain, brother, Ray Certain and grandchild Akeria Waggoner.
